Hi, my name's Jon Simpkins, I'm a graduate student at the University of Notre Dame, and over the next two weeks, I'm shooting a short pro-life themed film in Michiana. For one scene near the end of the movie, the pregnant heroine is daydreaming about one day running along the beach with her daughter, and we need an incredibly young little actor (2 years old or so) to fill the part. We're shooting the scene in South Haven, and would love to have the help of a local family if at all possible.
Because of the casting of the parents in the film, the child must have lighter skin and preferably blond hair (not necessary, though). The child is written as a girl, but we can adjust the script if you know of a little boy that would fit the role well. Filming will take about an hour total, from about 6-7 in the evening (for lighting purposes).
A quick bit about myself: my wife and I have lived in South Bend, IN for two years now, where I've been a graduate student and she has been a teacher at Notre Dame's Early Childhood Education Center (in a classroom for 3-year-olds). I've been doing film for about seven years now, and my most recent short has been featured in the Wildwood Film Festival in
wisconsin, and the Riverbend Film Festival in South Bend. I'm really excited about this current project, because I think it's a really honest and uplifting story about young married couples, and the difficulties of pregnancy.
If you're interested, or you know someone who may be interested in helping with this project, please feel free to contact me at jsimpkin@nd.edu
Thank you, and God Bless.
-Jon
